High On Kennels was founded by Tracy Presson in 1998 with goal of having a training facility specializing in gun dog development and training as well as obedience and behavioral problem solving. Tracy has been training dogs since the age of twelve; her entire professional career has been dedicated to dogs and their training. She has worked professionally training dogs for police work, handicapped service, obedience and gun dog work. Tracy’s training skills and rattlesnake aversion training techniques have been featured in the San Diego union tribune, news 8 and the channel 10 news in San Diego.
Tracy is best known for her bird dog training having apprenticed under world renowned trainer/breeder and cofounder of the North American versatile hunting dog association Sigbot (Bodo) Winterhelt. Navhda has the most stringent and demanding test regimen for gun dogs and is the benchmark in North America for gun dog training and testing. In addition to her apprenticeship with Bodo she has been involved in numerous workshops and seminars sponsored by the top names in gun dog training. As twenty plus year member of the North American versatile hunting dog association she is a field judge and has judged dogs for many years. In that time she has been exposed to and judged hundreds of gun dogs and has training and handling experience with virtually every sporting breed in North America. Her forty plus years of training experience with a multitude of different breeds and never ending study of dog psychology has given her a tremendous insight into their behavior and how they think.
In August of 2013 Ruth and Greg Weiss joined the High On Kennels staff as trainers having apprenticed under Tracy for over twenty years as well as attending many seminars and workshops on their own. They bring great knowledge and insight to High On Kennels as well as boosting our ability to handle more dogs and assist more clients at once. Both Ruth and Greg are Navhda judges with Ruth recently receiving her senior judge certification. Ruth and Greg are deeply involved in Navhda and as such are always working with the local chapters and assisting others in training as well as judging tests all over North America.
High On Kennels is located an hour and a half northeast of downtown San Diego in the mountains near the towns of Julian and Santa Ysabel. The kennel is located on forty plus acres and possesses a large cultivated training field, a two acre pond for water training and a half acre fenced free run enclosure. Our state of the art kennel can handle twenty two pets at a time, it is climate controlled and is `configured to let dogs roam between inside and outside at will weather permitting.
Dear Tracy, I want to thank you again for the excellent job that you have done in training my two Labrador retrievers I have sent to you. You did an excellent job in training both of them and I commend you for it.

My dog Zeke would go crazy every time the door bell rang, his behavior was so aggressive I was sure that it was just a matter of time before someone would get bitten; I considered giving him up to a rescue organization or having him euthanized. After a few weeks with Tracy and some lessons for me and my family on how to handle Zeke he has become a happy safe and obedient member of the family.

Wow what a dog! I’ve owned several bird dogs over the years all trained by myself, I had no idea what my German shorthair was capable of until I gave Tracy an opportunity to train her, between the training she gave the dog the tutoring she gave me during and after the training process I have what I consider the best field trained dog I have ever owned.
